1925 Chief The introduction of the Power Plus 42 degree V twin Indian was a landmark in the early development of the side valve motorcycle engines. These 61" and 72" engines were simple and durable and gave Indian a reputation for depenablity. |

| 1936 Scout The Scout was a popular model for Indian. These bikes featured a 45" flathead in the Scout Standard and the Scout Sport and a 30.35" in the Scout Junior model The Sport Scout had a lighter frame, girder front end, improved carburation, and alloy heads. An Indian Sport Scout won the first Daytona 500 in 1937. The Scout was discontinued when civilian motorcycle production began after WWII. |

1938 74" Chief Early Chiefs had a leaf spring front suspension and a rigid frame. The engine was a 74" flathead with alloy heads. These bikes became the pattern for the smaller displacement military models the company produced during the war. |

| 1946 74" Chief Beginning in 1940 Indian introduced the distinctive streamline fender design that became the company's signature Improvements were made to the engine and carburation, but the displacement remained 74". The new Chiefs had a girder front suspension and springs at the rear axle. |

1953 Eighty Chief In 1950 the 80" displacement Chief was introduced. The new Chiefs had telescopic front suspension, a novelty at the time. These bikes became the company's swan song. Plagued with management problems and falling sales due to the introduction of an unsuccessful line of vertical twin bikes, the company closed it's doors in 1953. |

| 2003 Chief The Indian Motorcycle was revived in the late 1990s in Northern California. The company produced several models based on the traditions of Indian styling, but using S&S engines patterned after Harley's Evolution Engine In 2003 the company began marketing the Chief model with an engine of Indian's own design, the 100" Power Plus. Only a few of these were produced before the company went out of business again in 2005. |
